Welcome to the Charles City Public Schools family. Enrolling your student is the first step in allowing us to partner with you to provide him/her with a world class education. Please reference the information below for the required forms and documentation needed to enroll your child.

Students who have previously enrolled in another school division should complete the registration paperwork (see below) and make an appointment to meet with the division registrar to enroll in Charles City County Public Schools. Please bring the name, phone number, and address of your child's previous school so that records and transcripts may be requested. Once registration is complete, an appointment will be made to meet with the school counselor to schedule classes for your child.
Children who are 5 years old by September 30th can start kindergarten in the fall. Please contact the division's registrar to schedule an appointment. See the links below for the necessary paperwork.
This year we will be combining the application process for all of our early learner programs, including Head Start, VPI Pre-K, and Pre-K. Please note that completing the application process does not guarantee a spot for your student. Notification of acceptance status will be given in late May.
The minimum eligibility requirements for preschool in Charles City include:
*Please note- If your child attended Pre-Kindergarten (PK) at Charles City Elementary School for the 2023-2024 School Year, you will NOT be required to complete a new enrollment registration. Your child will automatically be rolled over into our Kindergarten (KG) class for the 2023-2024 school year.If your child was enrolled in the Head Start pre-school program housed at Charles City Elementary or another location, then you will need to complete new enrollment registration documents by contacting , Linda Easter, Registrar at 804-652-4617 or by email at leaster@ccps.net .
A physician signed physical exam and a current certificate of immunizations are required for all students prior to starting school. If your child was enrolled in our PK program for the 23-24 school year then an updated physical exam WILL BE REQUIRED. Please make sure your child's immunizations are kept up to date and provided to the school nurse or to our Division Registrar, Linda Easter, per the VA State Requirements.
