English Learners

English as a Second Language (ESL) programs are designed to assist students learn to communicate effectively in English, both in and out of school.

A number of resources and services are available to help English Language Learner (ELL) students demonstrate their ability to understand, read and write English in order to function and be successful in school and in American society.

Upon registration at the school, a student’s parent or guardian should indicate the child’s primary language (the one spoken at home). Using that information and any existing school records, the school registrar will inform the ESL department the need for proficiency testing and possible placement into the ESL Program for services.
